Hit or Miss

Careful calculations are often myth,

you'll have to show up to find out if it's hit or miss.

But the miss that makes you wish to be home

once you've arrived and read the tone

can still be a stepping stone

for something grand, far down the road.

So when sneaks in that sensation you hate,

an undesired mental state,

for when the night is over you can't wait;

At least tomorrow you can create

a poem from it to demonstrate

that a payoff already is underway.
